I-129 - Cover Letter

Someone recently asked about a coversheet for the I-129F.

I think it is a good idea. I got the idea from http://k1.exit.com/. I also followed the INS Guidelines and used heavy paper dividers (60-80lb paper) with adhesive tabs along the bottom to note the location of individual items. I also used the top-of-page double punches with ACCO fasteners. This also shows what is actually in a K1 petition. The I-134 is optional. If you include one, you should also prepare a second and send it straight to your girl. Below is a copy of my cover letter converted to HTML.

K-1 Fiancé Visa Petition

Introduction: I am a single man requesting K-1 Visa approval of my fiancé, YOUR FIANCES NAME, who is currently a resident of Philippines, and who is a Filipino citizen. FIANCE NAME and I desire to marry and to reside in the United States. Enclosed, please find documents for this petition, including: form I-129F; G-325A forms for both my fiancé and I; form I-134 affidavit of support; and evidence of our relationship.

Personal Meetings: FIANCEES NAME and I met in person during a visit from December 20, 2001 to January 3, 2002. We were engaged on December 25, 2001.

Why We Want to Live in America: I am well established, and I earn a comfortable living here in the United States. I can best support FIANCEES NAME here in America.

About FIANCES NAME: NAME is currently an Accounting student at Cor Jesu College in Digos. NAME is single and has never been married. After we marry, she plans spend a year adapting to our culture and language before seeking employment in accounting or in retail sales.

About YOUR NAME: A U.S. citizen, I am the web director for a small custom publishing company called Curtis Communications, Inc. in Des Moines, Iowa. I am divorced, and I do not have any children. I am financially independent, and manage my debts successfully. I include an affidavit of support, which documents my salary and financial information for your review as required by law.

Summary: I appreciate your review of this petition and await your notification of approval. Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of further assistance in any way. Thank you for your time and effort.

Documents enclosed: Enclosed please find the following:

  • I-129F form and accompanying check for $95.
  • G-325A forms for Virgilia Acebes and myself, along with adit pictures of us.
  • Copies of our birth certificates, and a certified copy of my divorce certificate.
  • Statements from FIANCES NAME and myself stating our intention to marry.
  • I-134 form with supporting documents (in duplicate) in the form of: a statement from an officer of my bank; a statement of employment from Curtis Communications; a statement of my 401K holdings; and my 2000 tax return.

Proof of relationship and meeting, in the form of: plane ticket stubs/boarding passes; passport stamps; pictures of the two of us together; letters (including permission to court and her parents response); postmarked envelopes; pictures and drawings that I have made of her; and statements of wire transfer to her bank account.
